Mounjaro is a medication designed to help lower blood sugar levels and support weight loss. It is primarily used in adults with type 2 diabetes but can also assist individuals who are overweight and find it difficult to lose weight despite following a healthy lifestyle. Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, a compound that mimics the action of natural hormones in the body. These hormones aid in lowering blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin release and reducing appetite. Consequently, Mounjaro can help stabilize blood sugar levels and may contribute to weight reduction. The medication is most effective when combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity. Results vary between individuals; some may notice improvements quickly, while for others, it may take longer. Mounjaro is available by prescription only and is administered via a subcutaneous injection.
Each pen delivers four doses. The medication is available in different dose strengths. Each dose strength comes in a pack containing one prefilled pen with disposable needles (1 pen = 4 doses).

What does Mounjaro contain?
Tirzepatide is the active component of Mounjaro. Each injection contains 2.5 mg to 15 mg of tirzepatide, depending on your doctor’s instructions. Water for injections, sodium phosphate, and sodium chloride are the excipients.
Side effects
Mounjaro may have adverse effects, just like other medicines. Constipation, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and decreased appetite are typical adverse effects. As your body becomes used to the drug, these symptoms usually go away. You might occasionally have gas, indigestion, or stomach pain. Rarely, a serious allergic reaction or pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) can happen. If you have severe abdominal discomfort, swelling, or breathing difficulties, get medical help right once.
Precautions
Most people with type 2 diabetes and/or overweight can use Mounjaro. However, if you have type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or an allergy to tirzepatide or any of the excipients, it is not recommended. If you have a history of pancreatitis or severe stomach or intestinal problems, see your doctor. If you have diabetes and erectile dysfunction, you should exercise extra caution because blood sugar swings can affect your condition. If you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, avoid using Mounjaro. Before trying to conceive, stop using it for at least two months. Insulin and sulfonylureas (such gliclazide) raise the risk of low blood sugar, therefore use caution when using them.
